Why focus on Chastity?
Practicing the virtue of chastity before and during marriage is the key to eliminating abortion, poverty, and STDs and bringing about a Culture of Life. Sexually liberal elites have hijacked our culture by seizing control of the entertainment media (TV, movies, rock music, MTV and new technologies such as the Internet, cell phones, ipads, and iPods) and the sex education arena which has transformed the social landscape of America and made promiscuity a virtue and virginity a “problem” to be solved. With the contraception pill, sex became frequent outside of marriage and recreational. “Make love not war” was the mantra of the 1960’s and 1970’s. Our youth, in both public and private schools, including Catholic schools, are impacted by these forces.
Every day approximately 7,700 teenagers relinquish their virginity. In the process many will become pregnant and many more will contract a sexually transmitted disease. As we all know, traditional family values have all but disappeared. Alternative “family” life styles such as co-habitation, and same sex relationships are becoming more and more accepted and promoted. Same sex marriage is already legal in many states. One study shows that since 1970, the number of Americans living together has increased from about 500,000 heterosexual couples to more than 5 million. In the United States from 1995 to 2005, the marriage rate has declined almost 20 percent. 48% of all high school students engaged in sexual intercourse. 1/3 of all young women become pregnant before the age of 20. 4,600 of our youth between the ages of 10 and 24 commit suicide every year.
More than 125 million (1 in every 3) persons in America are living with an incurable STD. This percentage is increasing each year. An additional 19 million people (52,000 each day) become infected with an STD each year. Half of these are incurable and will be lifelong infections. There are many contraceptive methods on the market and abortion providers who promote them know they do not work. They’re failure leads to unwanted pregnancies and therefore more abortions. The Guttmacher Institute for Advancing Sexual and Reproductive Health Worldwide, until recently a research arm for Planned Parenthood, reports that 56% of abortions are due to failed contraception. Birth control is not stopping unplanned pregnancies. Artificial contraception not only leads to more unexpected, unwanted pregnancies, which devastate the lives of so many, they have many potential harmful effects on the women who use them. Harmful effects include high blood pressure, blood clots, stroke, heart attack, depression, weight gain, migraine headaches, breast, liver and cervical cancer. Instead Natural Family Planning methods will result in much healthier, happier lives.
In the United States, the leading cause of poverty is single parent families, the number of which has increased steadily from 3.8 million in 1970 to over 15 million today. (Single-parent “Families in Poverty, J. Kirby, M.S., The Ohio State University). Single parent families experience more poverty, abuse of women and children, school dropouts, criminal behavior, teen pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases and abortions. Statistics show the “Fatherless Generation” has suffered tremendously. 63 % of youth suicides are from fatherless homes. 85% of youths in prison are from fatherless homes. 70 % of youths in state-operated institutions come from fatherless homes. 75% of adolescent patients in chemical abuse centers come from fatherless homes. 71% of high school dropouts come from fatherless homes. 90% of homeless and runaway children come from fatherless homes. 85% of all children who show behavior disorders come from fatherless homes. All this proves the ills of society are directly related to single parent homes without a father.
Women who have abortions are traumatized. Many suffer deep depression turning to alcohol, drugs and suicide. 60% of women who have abortions have suicidal tendencies. 28% actually try to commit suicide sometimes up to 4 times (by hospital records). Project Rachel, Silent No More and Operation Outcry are organizations formed to help in healing the post abortion women. Many are elderly women who have never been healed from their abortion after 40 to 50 years. WAKEUP’s President and Founder is the State Leader for Operation Outcry. Operation Outcry works with post abortive healing ministries as well as working, within the legal system, to overturn Roe Vs Wade and Doe vs. Bolton.
Planned Parenthood, the leading abortion provider in the U.S. kills over a third of a million unborn children every year. Leading the destruction of the traditional family and the sexualization of our children, Planned Parenthood promotes “the right to have sex”, primarily targeting our youth down to the age of 10. Planned Parenthood readily provides various contraception methods with the expectations that our young women will eventually become pregnant, several times, and come in for abortions each time. All forms of contraception and all forms of sex are promoted, unlimited and unrestricted, including homosexuality, bondage & sadomasochism. In this attack, abortion is promoted as a means of contraception. Planned Parenthood supports prostitution and sex trafficking of girls 13 and 14 years of age. They promote their own “Humanist Manifesto” religion. A religion that teaches God does not exist. They proclaim there is no hereafter and there is no one to account to. Do what you want, with whomever or whatever you want, whenever you want.
